Handy Apps for Australia

Handy mobile apps for Australia

We made a list with Apps which can make your Australia travels a little easier.
Everyone knows how it is being in a new city, so with these apps, you will find your way and the best coffee around the corner.

Apps for navigation

Maps With Me
These offline maps have POIs and allow routing. The maps can be downloaded individually for regions so you won’t max out your memory.  We have tested Maps with Me and can recommend the app http://maps.me/de/home

OsmAnd+
OsmAnd+ is another offline maps app for navigation. Available for IOS and Android,  but navigation is available for Android only http://osmand.net

CAMPS App
CAMPS  Mobile-APP for IOS and Android
(under Android  optimised for 7″ and 10″ only)
From our experience, the app works on better on tablets than on mobile phones. The app costs 5.99 dollars (in Australia 09/17) with options for paid a monthly and an annual subscription. This is why you need to make sure not to log-out of the App when you are remote without any 3G / 4G reception or wireless internet. CampApp

WikiCamps-App

Wiki-Camps lists camp sites and rest areas. The app is available for IOS as Android. From our experience, you have to be a little careful about the listings. The listing/entries are from users and sometimes unprecise or simply incorrect. So people sometimes list a hidden parking spot as a campsite with all facilities. So, in general, you might be better off with the app from camps CAMPS.

Apps for accommodation

HOSTELWORLD
The app from Hostelworld is great to find and compare hostels.
Users can leave reviews and you can also book through the app. The app is available for IOS wie Android

YHA
The App is great for all those who preferably stay in YHA hostels. The App also offers information like weather warnings, maps as useful information for your next trip like where to find public toilettes or free wifi. Further, you can get in touch with other travelers to find travel buddies or get recommendations.  YHA-App Find and compare flights

To look up and compare flights a mobile-app can be handy. But when it comes to booking we recommend something larger than a screen of a mobile phone. You just want to make sure that you have read the fine-print avoid complications.
Webjet
Webjet is a good app to find and compare flights.
The Webjet-App is available for IOS and Android.

Apps for food and drinks

The classic to find a good restaurant or bars.
